Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to invite you to the Third European Conference of Local Authorities of Peace in the Middle East that will take place in Venice (Italy) from Thursday 25 to Saturday 27 September 2008 with the slogan "Let’s make peace in the Middle East. Let’s rebuild hope."

According to the signed agreement on November 27 2007 by the Palestinian
premier Mahmud Abbas and the Israeli premier Ehud Olmert at Annapolis
in the United States, the peace negotiations should be concluded within
the year 2008. The whole international community is called upon to make every effort to promote the success of the negotiations.
This Conference aims therefore, to strengthen and extend the engagement
of the European Local Authorities and communities by discussing ideas, proposals and concrete projects.
In Venice, the European Local Authorities will find evidence to know
and understand, tools to work, projects to implement and relationships to
cultivate. The objective is to define a concrete action plan to be realized
over the next two years.
The Conference will be also attended by Israeli and Palestinian Local
Authorities, international associations of Local Authorities, European
parliamentarians, journalists, scholars and representatives of civil society
organisations.
We hope to count on your collaboration and to see you in Venice.
